Zorra Arena COVID-19 Protocols (Step Three)
Effective Sept 13, 2021
The Township of Zorra remains committed to providing a safe and positive experience for user groups. Staff will continue to follow guidance issued by Southwestern Public Health and orders from the Province of Ontario. Renters and organizations are responsible for adhering to this policy. Deliberate non-compliance with this policy may result in cancellation of ice time(s).
As of September 1, Zorra Township along with the Southwestern Public Health Unit remain in Step Three of Roadmap to Reopen Ontario. The Ontario Regulation for Step 3 can be accessed through these links:

The Township of Zorra’s arenas will operate with the following precautions:
General Precautions:
• A maximum of 50 on ice participants are permitted per ice time
o Spectators are limited 50% of the grandstand capacity:
o 80 spectators for Thamesford Arena
o 90 spectators for Embro Arena
o Capacity will be filled on a first come basis. Sports organizations may set further limits on the number of spectators per skater.
• All visitors must complete a COVID-19 screening assessment before entry into the facility.
o Scan the QR code outside to complete the Canatrace screening tool. Present the screening confirmation to arena staff inside.
• Do not enter the facility if you have:
o Travelled outside Canada in the last 14 days.
o You have symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling unwell.
o Had close contact with a confirm COVID-19 case in the past 14 days.
• Maintain 2 metres physical distance from members of other households.
• All visitors over the age of 2 are required to wear a face covering unless engaged in physical activities or are exempt for medical reasons
• Wash hands or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer frequently.
• Read and follow posted signs or directions from facility staff.

Notice of Upcoming Changes:
On Sept. 22 Zorra Township will begin requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to entry at recreation facilities in compliance with Ontario Regulation 645/21.
The following visitors are exempt:
• Those under 18 years of age who are entering the facility for active participation in an organized sport.
• Individuals aged 11 or younger.
• Individuals who provide a medical reason, from a medical doctor or registered nurse, for not being vaccinated.
All other visitors 12 years of age or older will be required to provide proof of vaccination. Proof of vaccination is considered the following:
• Record of vaccination (two doses plus 14 days)
• Along with government issued ID.
Arriving and Departing the Arena:
• All visitors must provide contact tracing information and complete COVID-19 screening before entry via the posted Canatrace QR Code.
• The arena doors will be locked until 20 minutes before ice times.
o Priority entrance will be given to participants, coaches, trainers and volunteers 20 minutes before their scheduled ice time.
o Minors may have 1 supervising adult accompany them during priority entrance time.
o The remaining spectators will enter at 10 minutes before the ice time and proceed directly through the lobby to the spectator’s area.
• Participants will enter the facility proceeding directly to their assigned dressing room(s)
o Dressing rooms have a capacity of 15 skaters per room.
o Parents/caregivers are permitted in the dressing room to assist with equipment. When not assisting they are to wait in the lobby until spectator area is clear.
o Do not stand in the dressing room hallway, as it is to be kept clear.
• Participants, along with supervising adults will remain in the dressing room(s) or lobby until the ice and hallway have been cleared between groups.
• Once directed by staff, participants will go directly to the ice surface and supervising adults will move to the viewing area.
• At the end of the ice time, participants will move directly to their assigned dressing room(s). Spectators will clear the viewing area immediately. If not assisting with removing equipment, they will leave the building through the marked exit.
• Participants will have 30 minutes from the end of their ice time to change and exit the facility through the designated exit.
• Please remain physically distanced (2 metres) from members of other households, including in the parking lot while departing.
If you have comments on this policy or upcoming changes please contact Matthew Brown, Director of Recreation & Facilities. Individuals who cause a disturbance or are aggressive toward facility staff will be asked to leave. Inappropriate behavior or non-compliance with this policy could result in a facility ban for involved parties.
